One of the very cool aspects of OPALS, our online catalog, is that books can be rated on a 5-star system and reviewed.  What’s neat about this is that not
only are the reviews incredibly helpful when choosing a good book, but recently reviewed books are then featured on the main page under “Browse Reader Ratings”.Students love to know what their friends are reading and what are the “hottest” books in the library.  Another bonus is that every time a student
reviews a  book they are entered in a bimonthly drawing and could be the winner of a book of their choice from our prize boxes.  Interested?
Stop by the circulation desk and find out how!

This is a really great, short, intense read!  I actually thought it was REALLY REALLY GREAT, which is actually sort of surprising as generally I am not
the hugest fan of prose poetry, but in this case the style of writing really adds to the nature of the story.  When Wren and Darra are 8 years old
something terrible happens; Wren is accidentally kidnapped by Darra’s abusive, criminal father and is forced to hide in a garage for days under terrible
conditions which are slightly lessened by Darra’s secret help.  Wren eventually escapes and Darra’s dad is sent to prison, yet both girls are scarred
forever by this shared experience.  When they unexpectedly meet up as teenagers at summer camp the stage is set for an intense, emotional connection
that leaves both girls heads spinning.  Check this book out!
