Addie has had her share of hard knocks in her life, but she is sure that things are on the upswing as she finally gets to live alone with her Mom in a trailer
by the railroad tracks. Unaccustomed to getting her mother to herself, Addie is thrilled to spend time with her, but quickly realizes that her Mom’s issues are maybe more than she can deal with. When her Mom
basically abandons her, Addie turns to her hamster, her flute playing, her kind step-dad Dwight, her half-sisters, and the kind old women, Soula, who runs
the convenience store next door. I selected this realistic fiction book to read as the setting is very close to where I grew up, but I am suggesting it as
a great read because Addie is an engaging character who you will love to read about!
